This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Performs skilled tasks in the mechanical fabrication, assembly and maintenance of water trucks, fuel trucks, and fuel/ lubrication trucks. Primary Objective: Responsible for the assembly and maintenance of heavy equipment. Assembles, repairs, and adjusts hydraulic systems, motors, pumps, hoses, control manifolds and assemblies. The Mechanic can read and use hydraulic schematics. Assembles, repairs, and adjusts pneumatic systems, air compressors, storage tanks, hoses, control manifolds, double diaphragm pumps, and assemblies. Assembles, repairs, and adjusts electrical systems, wires, maintains, and troubleshoots controls, switches, lights, fuses, relays, and other electrical components. The Mechanic can read and use wiring diagrams. Assembles, repairs and adjusts mechanical systems, doors, hinges, latches, ladders, piping, fittings, meters, etc. The Mechanic is expected to perform incidental welding operations on equipment. He is required to have some welding knowledge as well as experience in the field. He communicates any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting. The mechanic can read welding schematics. The Mechanic must demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality equipment. The Mechanic knows the hazards of his job and is trained in safety precautions of the trade. The Mechanic must have skills in the care and use of hand and power tools employed in all phases of heavy equipment mechanical maintenance and repair work.
